The AFCON qualifiers are now almost complete and participating countries have been decided except for one more slot yet to be decided as a result of the suspension of the game between Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal. The suspension happened due to the violent scenes that occurred after Drogba
scored two goals to dash the hopes of the Teranga Lions, who now needed
five goals to qualify for South Africa 2013.
The match
officials including the referees were driven off the pitch as security
officials tried to protect Ivory Coast supporters - who came under
severe attack in the stadium.
Below are the countries participating in the 2013 AFCON holding in South Africa.
South Africa
Zambia
DR Congo
Ethiopia
Nigeria
Niger
Ghana
Mali
Togo
Burkina Faso
Angola
Cape
Verde
Algeria
Morocco
Tunisia.
Cote d'Ivoire are likely to join the rest of the squads after their match in Senegal was abandoned.
Surprisingly, Cape Verde edged out Cameroon and Egypt is also missing from the list.
We wish all teams best of luck as they prepare for the competition.
